Uphol-Stories: Susan Romano
Susan and I met several years ago as we are both members of Wendy Conklin’s The Business of Chairs mentorship program. One of the things I love about Susan is that she’s not afraid to tackle new to her skills like sewing cushions. So when she reached out to me about spring tying I knew she acould do it. So we jumped on a FaceTime call, she’s in Florida and I’m in Nashville. And of course, she mastered the springs! Sometimes technology is a really good thing.
When I was faced with a challenging upholstery project, I knew Nancy was the person to call! Along with her expert instruction, she was patient and very encouraging. I was so impressed with our virtual lesson as I was able to complete each step after Nancy’s demonstration. Her immediate feedback was priceless and enabled me to complete the rest of my project on my own. Nancy’s excellent teaching skills enabled me to learn to tie springs on an antique rocking chair!

My time with Nancy at Cobani Bleu was invaluable, filled with expert guidance, encouragement and fun!

My love of fabric, antiques, and all things vintage led me to take an upholstery class after I retired from 39 years of teaching. This new adventure led me to meet Nancy at Cobani Bleu, as both of us are members of Chair Whimsy Upholstery and Business of Chairs groups.
Chairs To Love is the name of my business, where I design and upholster vintage/antique chairs, settees, and ottomans. I believe your home should be filled with things and colors that bring you joy! In my case that includes an adorable golden doodle named Jax! I also enjoy traveling, gardening, the beach, fabric shopping, and getting swept away in antique stores!
